This and That

Charlie and I had our 9-month post placement review last night. All went well. Charlie was happy to show off his new room, well, show off in general I should say. We had been to the doctor a couple of weeks earlier and all is well. His head is growing, his body is growing and all things seem to be functioning well. There is nothing he is not doing well at. Don't I sound like a bragging mother!?!

Charlie continues to be the most curious, loving, helpful, loud, rough little two year old boy. He is sleeping well in his room. The past week or so he has been eating everything in sight and sleeping on average about 11 hours a night. This is in addition to his nap. I think he is gathering energy for a little growth spurt. His feet have grown, so last weekend we went out and got a couple of pairs of new shoes. He managed to split right through the middle of a mud puddle on the walk into church on Sunday, breaking in his new shoes just like a little boy should. He was soaked from the knees down when we got into the church.
He has almost outgrown all of the clothes from the showers that were celebrated before he came home. While this has implications for the household budget (as does the increased appetite) it is reason to celebrate because he is a 2-year-old wearing 24 month size clothes (for the most part). That is reassuring to his American momma.

We were driving home yesterday and I was telling him that we were going to have a visitor and she was going to talk to Momma and want to watch him play. After the talk it was sort of quiet in the car and I said, "I love you Charlie." He responded in a bit of a whisper, "I know that!" I could hardly drive. :)

At school they sing a song from time to time - "good morning, Charlie. good morning, Charlie. good morning, Charlie. I'm so happy that you're here." So I have been singing that to Charlie in the morning as we are going to school or getting dressed or whenever. He sings it back - "good morning, momma....so happy that you're here." Today I thought maybe I will sing that to him for the rest of his life. I may not always literally sing it - but I sure hope he always knows it.

Here are some pictures of the new room and some other things.
